Biografía de Gojira

Gojira was born in 1996, under the name Godzilla. After having warmed up audiences for Cannibal Corpse, Edge of Sanity, Impaled Nazarene, to mention only a few, they went on the " At the Heart of Winter French Tour " with Immortal in September 1999. The quartet changed names. Godzilla, rebaptized Gojira, recorded it's first album, " Terra Incognita ", 14 tracks of surprisingly rich music recorded and mixed at Stephan Kraemer's Belgian Studio, Impuls.

The style is unclassifiable, inimitable, powerful. " The link ", their second CD (April 2003) is a challenge for all columnists who try to translate into words the Gojira alchemy. A very fluid album, with calm, melodic phrases that stimulate the imagination and counterbalance the violent parts, with their perfectly mastered intensity. " The Link " confirms the unanimous enthusiasm that " Terra Incognita " aroused in 2001. More than a revelation, it propulsed Gojira into the limelight as a precursor. Influenced at first by " death ", Gojira cut loose from clichés and today with " The Link " comes forth with music that crosses audaciously the frontier of metal, seducing an increasingly wide range of listeners from film-makers to sportsmen with whom they collaborate on a variety of projects.

If it's hard to express the range of emotions experienced when one listens to their albums, it's even harder to describe their live performances. On stage their presence is highly charismatic, exceptional. Journalists who try to write about them finish their articles by an enthusiastic and helpless : " you'll just have to go and see for yourself ! " After the extraordinary success of the first two albums and their live performances they made a DVD in Bordeaux produced by Gabriel Editions / Rdm Prod in partnership with SFP (Société Française de Production). Since May 19th, 2004, " The Link Alive " is on sale in France. It's a high quality production unequaled in the French metal sphere. It's the result of 8 years of hard work.

Their two albums and live DVD, more than 300 performances in France across it's borders, and an impressive press book have made Gojira the most respected and popular rock/metal band . in France today. Gojira is rising. They are making the national magazines covers, receiving proposals from all sides (music for films, documentaries, teaching master classes etc). The albums and DVD have been on sale world-wide since march 2005 (listenable records/century media). Their much-awaited third album will come out in September 2005.
